Tennessee teenager Calvino Inman, 15, has a rare medical condition in which he cries tears of blood. Read more and see video of Calvino’s story below.
Calvino Inman is dealing with a medical mystery in which the 15 year-old boy cries blood. The tears of blood come out uncontrollably several times a day and doctors have no good explanation.
“Sometimes, I can feel it coming up, like a tear. I feel my eyes watering,” Inman told ABC News affiliate WATE. “Sometimes, it will burn as it comes out.”
Calvino says the bloody tears can last up to an hour. Inman says even his own friends have said he was “possessed”.
And Calvino’s called 911 when she first saw him crying blood. His mother said, “The scariest thing in my life is when he looked at me and said, ‘Mom, am I going to die?’ That right there broke my heart.”
The mother brought her s on in for an MRI, a CAT scan, ultrasounds and to many specialists. But no one has been able to diagnose this medical mystery.
Ophthalmologist Dr. Rex Hamilton said Inman could be suffering from a rare condition known as Haemolacria, which means “bloody tears.”
“That is just a descriptive term of the manifestation of the bloody tears,” Hamilton told “Good Morning America.” “It says nothing about what’s causing that.
“It’s a one-in-a-million kind of condition,” Hamilton said.
“More than anything, I just truly want somebody to say they’ve seen this — ‘I can help this family,’” Mynatt said. “I just please want somebody to help my baby. That’s all.”
