A futuristic (and stylish) census group observes will.i.am and Nicki Minaj (and all their sets of doubles) in the video for their Buggles-sampling dance track,”Check It Out“, from the BET Hip-Hop award winner’s debut album, Pink Friday. Could that ominous set of sunglasses-wearing reviewers represent us music fans judging the Black Eyed Pea and Harajuku Barbie’s latest clip? Will.i.am And Nicki Minaj — “Check It Out”

The vid, directed by Rich Lee (Eminem’s “Not Afraid”), offers some cool visuals — we especially like the accordion-like effects of cloning the backup dancers — but we have to admit we expected a bit more of a concept for this video besides will and Minaj posing on a spaceship-resembling sound stage.

Thankfully, will.i.am decided to heed our request and skip the blackface he used during him and Nicki’s performance before the VMAs, though he instead went for (animated) whiteface:
