Phew! Well, The Grammys happened on Sunday. (You know, it’s just the Super Bowl of the music world or whatever.) In case you still haven’t gotten all caught up on everything that went down — from Yoncé‘s “Drunk In Love” performance with Jay Z to Macklemore and Madonna‘s mass-marriage — make sure to check out all the performances and the winners.
But it wasn’t all about the Grammys this week! In fact, there was plenty of pop action to keep everybody satisfied, including Miley‘s MTV Unplugged special, as well as Shakira and Rihanna‘s “Can’t Remember To Forget You” video premiere. And speaking of Super Bowls, Bruno Mars will be taking the stage on Super Bowl Sunday for what will undoubtedly be a major half time show performance. As always, you guys had plenty to say this week. Read the week’s best comments below!
:: Enver just loves the smell of Iggy Azalea in the morning on Iggy Azalea’s Much-Delayed Debut LP ‘The New Classic’ Finally Has A Release Date: “This woman REEKS of talent. i don’t like rap but her music is inspirational. Her struggle is Real.”
:: Rain was simply gagging for Miley‘s cover on Miley Cyrus Poses Nude — Again — On The Leaked March Cover Of ‘W’ Magazine: “I think she’s a young Marilyn Monroe and only hope she comes to a better end by getting her values lined up. She has that vulnerability and unusual beauty that can be a blessing or a curse.”
:: Greg was deeply bothered by Katy Perry‘s Grammys performance on Grammy Awards 2014: The 10 Best & Worst Moments From The Show: “I can’t believe y’all forgot to call out sexbot Katy Perry! First off, was this a satanic ritual she did last night? It’s dark, gothic, creepy, there’s a cross across her breasts, and she’s flying around with witches and pole dancing on a broom stick? I can deal with her ridiculous “dark” or “edgy” performance (whatever she’ll be calling it). Again, what I can’t deal with though… 2 months ago, Miss Perry gave a speech to NPR about how she doesn’t need to use her sexuality to sell her music, and how tired she is of all the pop-stars being sexual….. Good GOD Katy…. get your sh*t together.”
:: And Viewer 01251967 had a very negative experience on Grammy Awards 2014: Watch The Performances: “Horrible, horrible performances and an awful selection of performances and no art that was original or even good. Yep, we won’t forget it for years. They say the brain can’t remember pain, I hope that is true.”
:: But blaackeagle saw the light: “Madonna is the best (as always!). She brought some love to the happy couples inside and outside the place – and that night will be remembered by lot of them.”
:: And A.nonymous stanned hard for P!nk‘s Grammy performance on Grammy Awards 2014: Pink Sizzles On The Red Carpet: “Pink looked – and sounded – amazing last night. She always gives one heck of a performance. Beyonce could learn a few things from Pink.”
:: Mike was not so impressed with Shakira and Rihanna‘s new video, saying: “For the star power involved it’s rather dull. It’s like two girls who don’t know what to do to get people’s attention so they just start touching each other. There’s really very little to be interested about in this video aside from who is in it.”
:: And ajb (sort of) agreed: “It’s like Te Amo meets Where Have You Been. And that’s not necessarily a good thing.”
:: HK was pleasantly surprised by Miley’s showcase on Miley Cyrus Goes Country, “SMS (Bangerz)” Acoustic & Madonna: MTV Unplugged Live Review: “Wow, Miley blew me away with the performances of “Rooting For My Baby” and “Drive”! “4×4″ is a really good jam too. It would’ve been cool if she had performed “On My Own” from the album too. That song reminds me so much of a Michael Jackson jam in a good way! I just wish she realized that her voice is enough. Her ‘dancers’ look stupid. She doesn’t need anything distracting on stage.. That horse, and the dancers were unnecessary.”
:: Tomas was not as confident in Gaga‘s ARTPOP confidence on Lady Gaga Assures Fans ‘ARTPOP’ Plan Is “100% Back On Track”: “well well, isn’t it sad that she tried so hard to establish a concept of art in popular culture while Beyoncé’s latest endeavour is actually the real artpop? Artpop is nothing but generic and commodified pop music, it tries so hard to be liked that it drives people away. Beyonce on the other hand decided to focus on the music and the visuals, no marketing hoopla, just a clear focus. LG has to stop giving in to the commercial and cloaking it in pretense, and start focusing on the music…”
:: Marc agreed, but ended on a positive note: “This humbling will let her be a great artist again. She took herself too seriously and a career b*tch slap to bring her back down. I think she got the message.”
