Whatcha Say: Britney Spears, Adam Lambert And Rihanna Got Our Readers Talking

ffc2e56b0e0164251ed575f1eacdf90d Whatcha Say: Britney Spears, Adam Lambert And Rihanna Got Our Readers Talking

Last week, we plead our cases for our favorite songs of the summer. But this week, we turned it over to you guys to make the ultimate decision. The race started off pretty even, but Mariah Carey and Avril Lavigne stans went head-to-head as the two singles quickly took the lead. Haven’t placed your vote yet? Don’t worry — you’ve still got the weekend — so go, go, go!

Meanwhile, the Jay-Z hype train kept on rolling this week, with his recently announced album Magna Carta Holy Grail, due out on July 4. The rapper dropped teasers throughout the week, releasing lyric sheets to new tracks and dropping a promo video, all while planning a rooftop concert in Times Square. In other hip-hop news, Wale released his third studio album and a Yeezus sequel from Kanye West might be on the way.

That Miley reign just won’t let up (don’t forget — she can’t stop): The “We Can’t Stop” songstress scored her seventh Billboard Hot 100 hit this week. And when she wasn’t busy breaking the VEVO record, Mileybird went on a 24-hour promo blitz, hitting up Jimmy Kimmel Live, Good Morning America, and Live With Kelly and Michael.

Check out some of this week’s best comments below!

:: When we asked what caused Miss Miley to drop her jaw in this week’s Caption This, Ray S. knew exactly what deal caught her attention: “You to can buy the Gwen Stefani starter kit for just 49.95! Act now, supplies are limited.”

:: BeyHive member Garnett shared his thoughts on Beyonce‘s frustrating release schedule on “In Defense Of Beyonce’s Delayed Album”: ”Fans aren’t frustrated that there isn’t any new music. It’s the fact that were left completely in the dark. Would it hurt to SAY SOMETHING? She could say mid-2014 and I’d be happy…But if she’s SLAYING in snippets left and right, and you have NO CLUE of when (or if) you’ll EVER hear that song and you’re left in the dark, of course everyone wants to hear.”

:: When it came to our 12 parallels between Justin Timberlake and Yeezy, rta1913 had another comparison up his sleeves on “Why Kanye West’s ‘Yeezus’ & Justin Timberlake’s ’20/20 Experience’ Are More Similar Than You Think”: “13. Both albums are overrated and barely can hold a candle to their predecessors. I like Kanye and JT but being honest both albums are just “blah”. It’s just the hype and their names alone the buying factors. Or is it weird that the most successful track from 20/20 is Cry Me a River 2.0, a.k.a “old Timberlake sound”, aka Mirrors? Or that anyone unbiased and objective can tell you that Born Sinner is a way better album than Yeezus?”

:: The Janoskinators stormed Idolator’s comment section on The Janoskians Get Shirtless In Their “Best Friends” Video: Watch,” Josephine Maria Høier Fussinger had nothing but love for the Aussie boys’ latest video: “i love their music, but they should keep doing fail videos icon smile Whatcha Say: Britney Spears, Adam Lambert And Rihanna Got Our Readers Talking cause thats what started it all icon smile Whatcha Say: Britney Spears, Adam Lambert And Rihanna Got Our Readers Talking and they are NOT A BOY BAND sooo… they are comedians icon smile Whatcha Say: Britney Spears, Adam Lambert And Rihanna Got Our Readers Talking (yep i am a janoskinator)”

:: Hit songwriter Bonnie McKee‘s star-studded video for “American Girl” has made a splash on the internet and Lee Lithophilous voiced his opinion on “Bonnie McKee’s “American Girl” Video: Watch Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Adam Lambert, & More”, claiming “the song has ‘instant pop hit’ written all over it.”

:: The replacement of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes on a new version of TLC’s “Waterfalls” has fans up in arms. Pebbles was one of the many outraged on “TLC Replaced Left Eye With A Japanese Pop Star On New Version Of “Waterfalls”: Listen”: “Total blasphemous !!! They shouldve left Lisa’s part as is and when it was time showed her on the big screen while it played. This version is so bad. Poor tribute…”

:: Adam Lambert‘s performance of the “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the 23rd annual Broadway Bares fundraiser had Terry praising the singer’s abilities on “Adam Lambert Sings The National Anthem At Broadway Bares: Watch”: “Beautifully done. He knows just which bits to power into and which to bring a more subtle sound to. The guy has such precise control over his vocals it’s astounding. This performance even got me stirred up & teary-eyed and I’m not even American.”

:: Our coverage on the never-ending feud between The Wanted and One Direction had Julie questioning The Wanted’s relevance on “The Wanted Challenged One Direction To A Fight At Madison Square Garden”: “Why is the Wanted still on the news? I thought when their music career failed and they started a reality TV show that was the end of them. Clearly the only reason they are still talking about One Direction is to get their name in the news again. This is pathetic.”

:: While Britney Spears landed her 31st pop radio hit, she inched closer to matching Rihanna‘s record and Vladimir Movsesian had a lot to say in defense of Queen B on “Britney Spears Nudges Closer To Rihanna’s Pop Record”: “Rihanna’s success is simply based on singles. Her albums…Well, I can only mark her LOUD album – her best by now. She better stop releasing ‘empty’ albums each November…Rihanna is money-maker, good vocally performer, not a revolutionar in music, not powerful or influential. Britney is a Living Legend. Nobody can beat her except Madonna. The time has proved the fact.”
