We Are Pop Slags Offers A Year-End List With Imported Flavor

waps2009 We Are Pop Slags Offers A Year End List With Imported FlavorIf you’ve had your fill of the various Yank-filled year-end music lists doing the rounds, might we suggest overseas pop blog We Are Pop Slags‘ picks for the 50 Greatest Pop Songs Of 2009.

Sure, some of the usual American fodder slipped onto the WAPS tally—particularly the “B” triumvirate of Beyoncé, Britney and the Black Eyed Peas—but there’s also enough five-star import material to satisfy the closet Anglophile (Lily Allen, Frankmusik, Dolly Rockers, Sugababes) and Euro-pop (Alphabeat, September, Röyksopp) fan in all of us.

The Slags didn’t number their choices, but instead listed them alphabetically, stating “we think each track is equally important (not very scientific, but there you go.)”

Below is the slightly creepy music video for one of the best singles ranked on WAPS’ list, Calvin Harris’ mesmerizing “I’m Not Alone”—followed by ten more tracks we recommend you seek out.

THE BEST OF WAPS’ GREATEST POP SONGS OF 2009 LIST:

1. The Temper Trap, “Sweet Disposition”
2. Alphabeat, “The Spell”
3. Cheryl Cole, “Fight For This Love”
4. Frankmusik, “Confusion Girl”
5. Natalie Imbruglia, “Want”
6. Röyksopp featuring Robyn, “The Girl And The Robot”
7. September, “Can’t Get Over”
8. Dan Black, “U + Me”
9. Florence + The Machine, “You Got The Love”
10. JLS, “Beat Again”
