Kanye West‘s barrier with the media has slowly but surely eroded over the last few months, mainly so that he can drive his own narrative, rather than leaving it to various outlets. West’s latest bit of press was a nearly two-hour conversation with L.A.’s Power 106, during which he revealed a bunch of intriguing tidbits, including: five unreleased Yeezus session tracks may see release before the end of the year (does that include “I Am Not Here”?), “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is his favorite song and 2010 track “Lost In The World” was written about his now-fiancee Kim Kardashian (they didn’t begin dating until 2012).
But one of the more remarkable parts of the interview came when host Big Boy put Ye on the spot and asked him to freestyle. The star was a little reluctant at first, noting that he hasn’t freestyled in a while, so Big offered to do a verse first, with the topic of what makes them mad. What ensued was a nearly eight-minute freestyle back-and-forth between the two.
Check out the interview below (the freestyle comes at 1:09:25).
