Earlier this week, Jay Z invited a 12-year-old boy on stage to perform, and the kid proceeded to tear through an energetic rendition of “Clique.” He pulled the stunt again in Chicago last night (January 9), bringing a 19-year-old female fan in front of the audience — only, this was the second time in her life she’s had the opportunity (“Like lightning striking twice,” as Jay described it.)
According to TMZ, Hov plucked the girl, Monique, out of the crowd based on her sign, which read, “When I was 16 I rapped on this stage with you. I’m 19 now and I’m ready.” (Kind of wordy, but OK!). The fan, clearly verklempt even though this was her second time around, gave a lenghty intro as Jay hung back, clearly amused by her shtick. Eventually she started up an original verse a cappella, and finished by hugging Jay and saying, “You gotta sign me, please.”
