One of the most pleasant surprises of 2013 was BANKS‘ London EP, which helped the singer nab an opening slot on The Weeknd‘s tour and landed on our Best of 2013 list. The L.A. crooner recently hooked up with SBTV for her very first acoustic session, fittingly recorded in London, where she did her writing for that breakout EP.
In the above video, BANKS performs an unplugged version of the yearning closer, “Change.” Her smoky warble is even more striking when paired only with light guitar strums and tapping percussion, lending the song an added level of desperation. It proves she’ll have no problem if she ever decides to move away from woozy R&B sonics.
