While it’s surprising that a full-on compilation of unreleased Michael Jackson material has yet to materialize, we can probably at least rest assured that we’ll be encountering the occasional song leak here and there.
And, lo and behold, over the weekend Michael Jackson fans were treated to what’s purported to be a new-ish track from the late King Of Pop, titled “Another Day.” The song—which is a cover of Lenny Kravitz’s 2004 single “Storm”—was posted on the Jacko fan site MJ Star on January 2. Have a listen to “Another Day” and “Storm” below.
These ears can kind of make out Lenny singing background on the chorus.
UPDATE: Lenny Kravitz has now posted the following video to “set the record straight” about “Another Day.” In it, Kravitz says he doesn’t know who leaked the unreleased tune—nor does he know who the DJ is speaking over the track. He does, however, say “the song was recorded by Michael and myself.”
At any rate, Spinner posted a letter Lenny Kravitz wrote upon Michael Jackson’s death last June, wherein he said this about working with the King Of Pop: “I got to work with Michael on a track that has not been released and it was the most amazing experience I’ve had in the studio. He was funny. Very funny and we laughed the whole time.”
