UPDATE: TMZ initially reported that 2 Chainz was robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco, but SF police spoke to Radio.com and said a member of 2 Chainz’s entourage, and not the rapper himself, was the victim. The rapper’s group was approached by a man with a gun, who fired a shot into the air. Everyone fled the scene, but one poor bastard fell down and the perpetrator proceeded to “rob him of an unknown item.” The suspect is still at large, and cops say all involved in the investigation “are being very uncooperative.” Original story below.
2 Chainz was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight Sunday (June 9) in San Francisco. TMZ says police responded to a shots-fired call, and that after reviewing security footage, it was clear the rapper was the intended target of the mugging. Cops added that 2 Chainz’s entourage “ran away from the incident like cockroaches running from a flashlight.”
Something about the way TMZ presented that fleeing tidbit, I picture the blogger (and readers) smirking about it. But uh, why wouldn’t you dart away from a scene like that as fast as you can? Fight or flight? Nah I’m cool with just flight, thanks. Anyway, we’re glad 2 Chainz is OK.
There’s been a string of troubling incidents recently that makes 2 Chainz just the latest hip-hop star to be a victim of gun violence. Earlier this year, Rick Ross was the target of a drive-by shooting on his birthday. In May, button-mashing beat-maker AraabMUZIK was shot during an attempted robbery, though he was “alive and well” in the hospital shortly after the shooting.
