I enjoy this brooding cover of Womack & Womack’s 1988 R & B single “Teardrops,” which comes to your screen courtesy of the buzzy British outfit The xx, very much; the xx’s debut album, which came out last week, just jumped to the top of my too-long “2009 releases to be listened to” playlist as a result. (Plus, I had at least two elementary-school pals who had the synth pictured in the above clip, I’m pretty sure; I myself owned (and wore out) a Casio back in the day.)
