The Morning Mix: Diddy Throws A Party For Someone Other Than Himself

GettyImages 961302641 The Morning Mix: Diddy Throws A Party For Someone Other Than HimselfHappy Monday! We were fully enjoying our weekend until we read about the ridiculous Sweet 16 party Diddy threw for his son Justin.  We’re heartbroken that we missed out on such an A-list event, especially one that attracted the likes of Nicki Minaj and the cast of Jersey Shore. No sarcasm, either: that had to be one amazing party, where the overwhelming scent of cologne alone probably got everybody drunk. At least we’ll be able to vicariously take part in the bash, as it will be aired on MTV, in case you had any remaining doubt of the real motivation for such an outlandish affair.

:: Courtney Love, who has a new album coming out, is talking to the press instead of her Twitter followers. And, surprise! She’s as rambling and incoherent in her Spinner interview as she is in her blog posts. [Spinner]

Behind the jump: a look back at birthday girl Alicia Keys’ first music video.

VIDEO REWIND OF THE DAY: Alicia Keys turns 29 today, and she’s managed to stay at the top of her game throughout her prolific nine-year career. She might be at the top of the charts with her Jay-Z collaboration “Empire State of Mind,” but let’s take a look back at the singer/songwriter’s very first music video, “Fallin’,” from 2001. We still get the chills seeing a group of female prisoners belt out the chorus while working off their debt to society, as Alicia sadly stares out her bus window. Can’t say we miss her out-of-style dreads much, though. Happy birthday, Alicia!

Have a great day, everyone!
