February 2nd sure is a busy day: it’s Groundhog Day, Shakira’s 34th birthday, and last but not least, the glorious day when Lost returns to the tee-vee to start its sixth and final season. All you Losties out there, try not to weep into your coffee as you check out the mix:
Did You Hear?
:: File this under “Things We Would Give Our First Born Child To See Happen”: Mariah Carey and Courtney Love almost collaborated together on a song. We can’t believe we ‘re saying this, but Mariah is way too put together nowadays to rock out with Courtney. [Spinner]
:: We missed one important celebrity tweet from Grammy night — the one where Trent Reznor spouts his distaste for the industry’s celebration of “puppets”. Hey, Trent, Nine Inch Nails has won two Grammys in the past, let’s not call the kettle black quite yet, shall we? [Pitchfork]
:: How precious does Drake look walking in to the Grammys with his teeny-tiny mom? We wish she hopped onstage and filled in for Kanye West during “Forever.” [Rap Up]
:: It’s been almost two full days since Taylor Swift won Album of the Year, which means it’s high time for the backlash to begin. Hey Kanye, you can go out in public again. [PopEater]
:: Angry fans pelted Pete Doherty with bagels when the Babyshambles singer showed up late to a Moscow gig. Some questions: 1) He still has fans? 2) Did fans expect punctuality from the man who once smoked crack with a kitten? 3) What did bagels ever do to deserve such a horrid punishment? [Celebuzz]

VIDEO REWIND OF THE DAY: As if you needed us to tell you, the Lost season premiere airs tonight on ABC at 9pm. Gear up for the last season of the head-scratching hit show by checking out this abstract, sexy commercial shot for Season 1. The TV spot was directed by photographer and music video auteur David LaChapelle and features the song “Numb” by Portishead.
If you’re still in dire need of a music video of the day but still need your Lost fix, watch the faux-vid made “by” the show’s fictional Oasis-style fraternal duo, Driveshaft, featuring the band’s hit song “You All Everybody.”
Have a great day, everyone!
