2004: The year of socialite and future pop legend Paris Hilton, ripping songs off Limewire, rocking Juicy Couture sweatsuits, fangirling over The O.C., the Napoleon Dynamite and Mean Girls fan craze, Myspace Top 8 and of course – some of the biggest and best music ever! of It’s hard to believe that ten years has passed since one of the greatest eras of pop music, which is all thanks to artists like Britney Spears, Usher, Amy Winehouse, Kelis, JoJo and many more.

In honor of this unforgettable year, we’ve curated a list (in no particular order) of the ten best pop jams from 2004 that we still can’t get enough of in 2014. Relive your nostalgia below!

1. “Drop It Like It’s Hot” – Snoop Dogg (feat. Pharrell)

Starting off this list is Snoop Dogg‘s single, “Drop It Like It’s Hot” featuring Pharrell Williams. Release off of his seventh studio album R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece, the double platinum-selling single became Snoop Dogg’s breakthrough into chart-topping territory. Back in 2004, you couldn’t turn on the television or the radio without hearing the catchy “Snooooooppppppp!” tagline! The song kept its #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks, and also landed on numerous Top 10 charts worldwide. “Drop It Like It’s Hot” was the rapper’s first #1 single, as well as his first Top 10 hit as a solo artist since 1994′s “Gin & Juice.” He may refer to himself as “Snoop Lion” nowadays, but in 2004 it was all about S-N-double-O-P, D-O-double-G!

2. “Toxic” – Britney Spears

Britney Spears has been a force to be reckoned with ever since her 1999 debut with…Baby One More Time.” But in 2004, her status as the ultimate Princess of Pop reached its highest peak with her fourth studio album In The Zone. What made the album so special was its second single: “Toxic.” Quickly becoming the singer’s fourth Top 10 hit, it wiped out the popularity of “Me Against The Music” (In The Zone‘s first single) and dominated the music scene as one of the most powerful songs of the entire decade! Let’s be honest, who couldn’t get those zingy Bollywood strings out of their heads? “Toxic” is also special because it earned the singer her first Grammy, winning for Best Dance Recording in 2005. The certified Gold tune peaked at the #9 spot on Billboard‘s Hot 100 and landed in the Top 5 positions on endless charts around the world.

3. “Breakaway” – Kelly Clarkson

This next song comes courtesy of our favorite American Idol star. (Who actually remembers the names of half the other winners, anyway?) ”Breakaway” is from Kelly Clarkson‘s sophomore album, released in November of 2004. The song, which was co-written by Avril Lavigne, was originally planned for the pop-punk singer’s debut album Let Go. It didn’t fit with Lavigne’s sound at the time, but the inspirational ballad was perfect for the recent American Idol winner — it took the #6 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became certified platinum in the U.S. “Breakaway” also ties with Celine Dion‘s “A New Day Has Come” for the longest-running #1 on the Adult Contemporary charts by a solo female artist. How’s that for a fun fact?
