Clean Bandit Premiere Icy Hot Video For “Come Over”: Watch

96650fb6e28683e3eab873589a262b2f Clean Bandit Premiere Icy Hot Video For “Come Over”: Watch

It’s been a big year for Clean Bandit

Coming off their recent success from their debut album New Eyes (which contains infectious summer jams such as “Rather Be” featuring Jess Glynne, and “Extraordinary” with Sharna Bass), the British electronic troupe is back with their third single “Come Over” — and a beautiful new video to match.

As seen in the videos for “Rather Be” and “Extraordinary,” the group has quite a fondness for the unique, and “Come Over” is certainly no exception.

Directed, produced and shot by Clean Bandit themselves, the clip bounces between Svalbard, a Norwegian island cluster in the Arctic Circle, and Marrakech, Morocco, two polar opposite locations that manage to somehow balance each other perfectly in the video. Clean Bandit’s cellist Grace Chatto, who looks a bit like Game Of ThronesDaenerys Targaryen, rides Husky sleds in the middle of Norway while guest artist, British reggae singer Stylo G, dances atop a sand dune in the Sahara Desert and takes a stroll in the Medina. It’s a pretty mesmerizing video to say the least, with stunning visuals that compliment both Grace’s icy vocal qualities and Stylo’s summer vibes. Watch the video up top.

Jenn Em’s “Jailkeeper” Video: Idolator Premiere

de28c40a45abc4e61e0f6a567651c9f0 Jenn Em’s “Jailkeeper” Video: Idolator Premiere

Los Angeles-based singer Jenn Em is a 22 year old vocal dynamo who hails from Chevy Chase, Maryland and comes packing a voice that is as contemporary as it is full of old-school soul. Keeping in line with the “anything goes” state of pop in 2014, Jenn’s debut single “Jailkeeper” is a moody, somewhat bluesy pop number that almost defies genre. If there’s a space to be occupied somewhere between Ella Fitzgerald, Christina Aguilera and Lorde, Jenn Em just may have found it.

“At one particular moment, I had been [in L.A.] for four or five months, and it was this really dark point,” Em explains to Idolator. “It was the only time in my life I thought, maybe I ought to pack up my shit and go. I sat at my piano and wrote…it was almost like I blacked out. When I opened my eyes, I had finished the song. That was five years ago, and that’s ‘Jailkeeper’.”

Watch Jenn Em’s intriguing video for her debut single “Jailkeeper,” which Idolator is premiering today, above. If you like what you hear, you can pick up the song on iTunes.

Bea Miller Captures Teen Angst Perfectly In Her “Young Blood” Video: Watch

44064969f59ab4627da5ac0adea3261b Bea Miller Captures Teen Angst Perfectly In Her “Young Blood” Video: Watch

Bea Miller didn’t win X Factor in 2013 but the gravelly-voiced teen made enough of an impression to land a record deal with Hollywood Records. Not that she’s your average Disney diva. The 15-year-old worships The Pretty Reckless, recorded an EP full of relatively rebellious pop/rock anthems and is an outspoken LGBT advocate (she has two mums).

It makes sense then that the video for “Young Blood”, the lead single from her similarly-titled debut LP, would be a fairly gritty affair. Directed by Mark Pellington, the atmospheric video was filmed in what appears to be an abandoned warehouse and finds Bea (and a bunch of equally pained-looking teens) in an extremely emo mood. It’s a great fit for the catchy and surprisingly stirring anthem. Watch up top.

Have you discovered Bea yet? Let us know in the comments below.

“Weird Al” Yankovic Premieres “Lame Claim To Fame”: Watch Him Make Fun Of Name-Droppers

540461d16f04a096ec8f16ef854505ed “Weird Al” Yankovic Premieres “Lame Claim To Fame”: Watch Him Make Fun Of Name Droppers

As part of the “Eight Videos In Eight Days” installation for his new album Mandatory Fun, “Weird Al” Yankovic debuted his video for track “Lame Claim To Fame” today. Already premiering parodies of pop heavyweights such as Pharrell, Iggy Azalea, Lorde, and Robin Thicke, Weird Al doesn’t poke fun at celebrities this time around but, rather, makes jabs at the people who name-drop or claim to know today’s biggest cultural figures but really don’t.

“My sister used to take piano lessons from the second cousin of Ralph Nader,” Weird Al sings, which he then follows up with “Last year I threw up in an elevator next to Christian Slater.”

And the list goes on and on. While the video itself is a bit reminiscent of Peter Gabriel‘s “Sledgehammer,” the track is done in the style of your average southern blues rock band. It also might have you shouting “I’ve got a lame, lame claim to fame” by the end of it.  You’ve been warned. Watch the clip up top.

Jacob Latimore Teases “Heartbreak Heard Around The World” Video: Idolator Exclusive

6c67901e9dff0804b15caa49b76a3a20 Jacob Latimore Teases “Heartbreak Heard Around The World” Video: Idolator Exclusive

We premiered Jacob Latimore‘s catchy new single “Heartbreak Heard Around The World” in early June and the multi-talented teen (he’s also a budding movie star with roles in Ride Along and The Maze Runner) is now gearing up to release the Jumper-inspired video (due July 23). From our exclusive sneak peek, it looks like something of a blockbuster.

Directed by Erik White, the slick visual finds the 17-year-old walking/dancing down the street while thinking about his lady. Jacob rocks a pair of Heelys skate shoes and looks suitably emotional. Given that the clip is based on a science fiction film about a kid with teleportation abilities, I’m sure there’s a lot more action to come. Watch up top.

Tinashe Performs Breakthrough Smash “2 On” On ‘The Wendy Williams Show’: Watch

37d8ad5c07cf759858ff93a7af5cb06a Tinashe Performs Breakthrough Smash “2 On” On ‘The Wendy Williams Show’: Watch

Tinashe made the leap from blog darling to genuine contender with infectious DJ Mustard-produced single “2 On”, which is rocketing up the Billboard Hot 1oo. (It lands at an impressive number 27 this week). The rising star dropped by The Wendy Williams Show today (July 21) to perform the smash and even showed off some nifty dance moves.

R&B’s new ‘it’ girl is known for her off-the-wall fashions and she served serious ’90s chic by rocking what appears to be a transparent raincoat. Tinashe worships Janet Jackson and there was a touch of Damita Jo to her simple but slick and effective performance. Apart from a minor choreography mishap, the 21-year-old delivered an overwhelmingly fun performance. Watch up top.

Is “2 On” destined for the top 10? Let us know in the comments below.

Royksopp & Robyn’s “Do It Again” Video: Watch The Dramatic Black & White Clip

43c3ec6940959b14fff7aa2d52df39bc Royksopp & Robyn’s “Do It Again” Video: Watch The Dramatic Black & White Clip

Royksopp and Robyn‘s Do It Again EP hit the pop world this past spring to critical acclaim, and the Norwegian electronic duo and eternally cool Swedish singer have been trekking around together on tour in support of their joint release. Today brings the sprawling six-minute video for the EP’s title track, a song we recently included in our Best Of 2014 (So Far) roundup.

The video was directed by Martin De Thurah in Mexico, and it depicts rebels living out desperately urgent scenarios (seeking medicine after an injury, having sex, dancing wildly etc.) in a castle before a final act of authoritarian violence brings it all to an end.

De Thurah explains the following to Dazed:

“The video was filmed over three days in four Mexican states – Mexico City, Vera Cruz, Puebla and Hidalgo. The stories we worked on and the world we created was much more interesting and captivating than just to focus on (the artists’) performance. I worked with the idea of ‘what is our heart’s desire?’ – and I realised that no one in the world truly gets to live out their passions. We are all under some construct, whether you’re an atheist living in Denmark or a gay person in Russia.”

For now, you can watch “Do It Again” at Dazed, which exclusively premiered Royskopp and Robyn’s video today.

Nicole Scherzinger Performs Acoustic Version Of “Your Love”: Watch

30fca657db5717274cfbdc442935bc60 Nicole Scherzinger Performs Acoustic Version Of “Your Love”: Watch

Doo-doo-doo-da-damn.

Nicole Scherzinger is coming out of the gate strong with her infectious UK summer single “Your Love,” poised to land at the very top of next week’s charts. She’s going hard with her promo game, too — from a performance on Alan Carr to milking a goat live on the radio. (Hey, whatever it takes.)

Luckily, Scherzy’s latest promotional tactic requires no manhandling of farm animals whatsoever: The former Pussycat Doll troupe leader just uploaded an acoustic rendition of “Your Love” performed on The Box, and it’s absolutely stunning.

Stripping out the heavily filters on the verses and punchy synth production of the original, Nicole powerfully croons across gentle guitars and a steady drum pulse. The live take breathes new life into the song entirely, highlighting not only Scherzy’s more than capable vocal chops, but the song’s beautiful underlying melodies. Those doo-do-do-da-doos have never sounded sweeter — this is love at first listen.

Watch Nicole’s gorgeous “Your Love” makeover up top, and let us know what you think in the comments below.

ALT-J Premiere Thrilling “Hunger Of The Pine” Video: Watch

babc378e9ddf0259374876d988e1a0cf ALT J Premiere Thrilling “Hunger Of The Pine” Video: Watch

When it comes to their videos, British indie rockers Alt-J have a knack for the slightly off kilter. Case in point? The video for “Fitzpleasure” …and their newly released video for their Miley-sampled single “Hunger of the Pine” is no different.

Directed by music video mastermind Nabil, who is responsible for the stunning visuals behind Frank Ocean’s “Novacane”  and FKA Twigs’   “Two Weeks”, the clip follows a man running from thousands of flying arrows through a forest. A bit Hunger Games-esque, the concept was first drawn up by band’s frontman, Jon Newman.

In a recent interview with NPR, bassist Gus Unger-Hamilton notes that the track explores “the idea that missing someone — pining — can be a physical pain much like hunger.” An almost too literal presentation of that very thought, the “Hunger Of The Pine” video leaves you feeling uncomfortable, yet completely engrossed by its gloriously gory images. So, fair warning: it’s certainly not for the faint-hearted. Still intrigued? Watch the video up top.

What did you think of the clip? Let us know in the comment section below.

“Weird Al” Yankovic Parodies Lorde’s “Royals” With “Foil”: Watch The Video

c0754c25d6b5f774670d593010fcee71 “Weird Al” Yankovic Parodies Lorde’s “Royals” With “Foil”: Watch The Video

Who knew “Weird Al” Yankovic was going to be as prolific as Queen Beyonce by rolling out a new music video each day this week? Following “Tacky” and “Word Crimes,” the next order of business off new album Mandatory Fun is “Foil,” a goof on Lorde‘s “Royals.” The video has Yankovic teaming up with College Humor and depicts the pop comedian as a looney tunes cooking show host (watch for Patton Oswalt‘s turn as Al’s producer) who goes from singing the praises of aluminum foil to theorizing on the Illuminati’s takeover of the world.

Lest you doubt “Weird Al”s domination this week in the rather barren music world, Mandatory Fun is currently the top-selling album on iTunes.
