On Friday, Beyonce was confirmed by “multiple sources” to be pregnant with her second child. Hours later she apparently took to Instagram to deny the reports, only to delete her sharp statement. “I can’t stop the rumors from starting, and I can’t really change peoples [sic] minds who believe them, all I can do is sit back and laugh at these low life people who have nothing better to do than talk about me,” the post said.

Rumors swirled after photos of Beyonce’s Met Gala appearance surfaced — as in, a high-waisted dress “revealed” a baby bump — and she canceled a Mrs. Carter gig due to dehydration and exhaustion.” While a pregnancy could explain why Beyonce’s yet to kick off promotion for her new album into full gear, Friday’s message also bore little resemblance to other statements she’s made on Instagram, aesthetically and in tone. Obviously, it’s hard to tell why Beyonce took down her statement. Maybe the rumors bear truth, or maybe they don’t. Or, like when her publicist ordered Buzzfeed to remove “unflattering” Super Bowl photos, maybe Beyonce realized that she was only drawing more attention to what she can’t control.

While the film boasted a lavish world that could be viewed in 3-D, will.i.am’s black and white clip is stark in its simplicity. A band of horn players follow his lead as he signals for the drop, then nails the Charleston inside an otherwise empty ballroom.

In AllMusic’s review of the soundtrack, David Jeffries said that will.i.am’s song made for an “entirely obvious and irresistibly fun” contribution. The video is precisely that — watch it at E!.

When Jennifer Lopez teased her “Live It Up” video, she offered flashes of a colorful runway show, a rambunctious beach party and skin — her own, that is. Hours later though, Lopez couldn’t help but to release the video in its entirety — a flashy clip showing that even if Pitbull calls (okay, texts) and America’s Next Top Model alumnus Eva Marcille appears, J. Lo will still steal the show.

Lopez preps for the runway when Pitbull proposes to meet in southeastern France. (The video was filmed in Miami Beach, but whatever.) She heads to his call, but not before she channels her inner Baby and drives onlookers to hysterics.

“I’d rather be a dick than a swallower,” Kanye West raps in “New Slaves,” a song he debuted Friday night. West premiered the song in 10 different cities by projecting a clip onto 66 different buildings, a video of him staring straight ahead. The rapper was calm, but his words were harsh.

“New Slaves” brings West’s February gigs in London to mind and how, to the tune of “Clique,” the G.O.O.D. Music honcho mocked corporations (“I can’t give a fuck about your comments, I promise, I promise”) as he rambled of the Grammys, “the whole Beyonce thing” and Jay-Z‘s cameo in Justin Timberlake‘s “Suit & Tie.” To the spare beat of “New Slaves,” West hits harder at the same target. 

“My mama was raised in the era when / Clean water was only served to the fairer skin/ Threw on clothes, you would’ve thought I had help/ But they wasn’t satisfied unless I picked the cotton myself,” West raps, before casting accusations of how corporations entice rap’s new signees: new Maybach keys, if not the same chain.

Wherever his public ratings may lie, it’s clearer than ever that Yeezy doesn’t care — he will be seen and heard.
