It’s a well known fact that crazy-amazing pop is manufactured in some kind of underground bunker in Sweden and then periodically shipped out to infiltrate and conquer the unsuspecting ears of the masses. But let’s not forget about Denmark! Hailing from the same country — not to mention the same label — as Alphabeat, pop trio Scarlet Pleasure have unleashed their smooth R&B-tinged single “Windy,” and it’s a pretty glorious three-and-a-half minutes to behold.
The intro is a straight up homage to Marvin Gaye‘s “Inner City Blues,” by way of, oh, let’s just say, Daft Punk. The vocals are creamy and strangely reminiscent of Chris Brown — minus, of course, all the ickyness. And then there’s the lava lamp and palm fronds on the single cover above…
With that, let’s just stop there and direct you below, where you can let “Windy” blow its way into your pop-loving heart.
