Twenty years later, the cast members of “Saved By the Bell” are featured on People Magazine’s cover. Cast members Mario Lopez, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Elizabeth Berley, Tiffani Thiessen, and Lark Voorhies are pictured. But where is Dustin Diamond who played “Screech”? Read more below.
All the Saved By the Bell cast reunited for the People magazine’s cover with the exception of Dustin Diamond.
Mario Lopez (Slater), Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack), Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie), Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly) and Lark Voorhies (Lisa) are back together in celebration of their days on the popular show.
“Everybody knew the 20-year anniversary was coming up,” says Lopez. “This People story has been in the works for over a year, long before (late night host) Jimmy Fallon started talking about it. We were all excited about it.”
Bayside High’s geeky character “Screech”, played by Dustin Diamond, was notably absent from the cast’s photo reunion.
RadarOnline has reported:
“Cast members were not comfortable with including him,” a spokesperson for People told the Web site.
Diamond’s much-anticipated “Bell” memoir is the reason his old pals’ defenses are up, the rep says.
“What is he going to say?” Gosselaar asked sarcastically. “We were (bleeping) groupies at 14? I can’t wait to read his book, because I don’t have a memory of a lot of the shows. Maybe it was because I was doing lines off of the audience members’ a—-. I’m sure he’s going to write something crazy like that. So he’s writing a book, I’m not really afraid of what he has to say. There are not too many skeletons in my closet.”
And how did Diamond feel about the blatant snub? Apparently the same way Screech felt after being repeatedly dissed by Lisa Turtle.
“Of course he cared he wasn’t invited,” a source close to Diamond told Radar. “Wouldn’t you?”
