Robin Thicke‘s “Blurred Lines” summer domination is as neverending as this heat wave — now brainy indie dudes Vampire Weekend have covered the jam for BBC Radio’s Live Lounge. And it’s actually a pretty good match — the hit has a leanness that’s exhibited in much of VW’s catalog, and singer Ezra Koenig‘s got the pipes to hit the falsetto.
In fact, he takes it a step further and takes on T.I.‘s rap verse — not shocking to those of you who know that, before he was fronting VW, Koenig dabbled in hip-hop as part of L’Homme Run. Check it out below.
Vampire Weekend — “Blurred Lines” (Robin Thicke cover)
This isn’t Vampire Weekend’s first time going pop: a few years ago the New York band covered Cheryl Cole‘s “Fight For This Love.” They’re also not the first rock band to take on Thicke’s hit: Queens of the Stone Age recently covered it, also for BBC’s Live Lounge. So, whose version was better?
