It’s unclear if the newly surfaced Robin Thicke track “Slow Down” was left off the sensual singer’s Sex Therapy, or if it’s a demo for another upcoming album. Either way, it has instantly been knighted as the soundtrack to our naughty daydreams (featuring Thicke, of course). Listen to the steamy slow-jam after the jump:
(Ignore the unsettling distractions by a disc-jockey, since it appears the track was first revealed on the radio then ripped online.)
“I can please you, baby, if we take our time. Slow down, lemme have all day,” Robin mumbles in a dreamy falsetto over the piano-led track. We almost wish Robin would speak up and enunciate, we can barely make out what he’s crooning. But we understand that diction don’t matter when all you need to worry yourself about is the mood, baby. And Robin’s raison-d’être of late has been to provide smooth, soulful, relaxed songs to get naked to, a task that he aces admirably.
Some find it irritating that Thicke flip-flops his personsa between “boastful playboy” and “seductive crooner pledging devotion,” flipping the switch on his personalities whenever it seems convenient to the song. We too have noticed that Thicke tends to dedicate half his songs to sex romps, and the other half to gentlemanly shout-outs to lovely ladies. But wouldn’t you get bored if it was just one way or the other?
