Troubled actor Rip Torn was arrested on Friday night after breaking into a Connecticut bank with a loaded gun. Read more on Rip Torn’s arrest below.
Police said they discovered Rip Torn lying on the floor of the Litchfield Bankcorp building holding a loaded revolver. Rip Torn, real name Elmore Rual Torn, was drunk at the time of his arrest.
The actor has been charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.
He is being held on a $100,000 bond, and is due in court on Monday.
Litchfield Bancorp’s Mark E. Macomber told TMZ.com that he didn’t believe the actor was trying to steal anything from the bank, but thought he was in his own home.
This isn’t Rip Torn’s first run-in with the law. He was arrested for DUI in December 2008.
