Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal will be seeking fellow Democrat Christopher Dodd’s seat in the U.S. Senate, as news of Chris Dodd’s retirement should be announced today. Read more on Richard Blumenthal below.
Richard Blumenthal tells The Associated Press that he will announce his candidacy today at noon at Democratic headquarters in Hartford.
And Chris Dodd will also be announcing that he will not seek a sixth term in November, and will be retiring.
Blumenthal, 63, has been the attorney general for Connecticut since 1990.
Republicans that are running for the seat in the U.S. Senate include former U.S. Representative Robert Simmons, and Linda McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment.
