Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi, have reportedly been arrested in Texas on charges of stiffing a California hotel for more than $10,000. Reports state that there was a scuffle during the arrest with claims of assault to officers from Quaid and his wife, Evi. Read more below!
The Houston, Texas native, Randy Quaid, and his wife Evi were arrested in Marfa, Texas on Thursday afternoon. The couple is in custody and awaiting arraignment.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department stated that a hotel complained that Randy and Evi Quaid had not paid their bill totaling $10,000. Their bail is set at $20,000 each.
Randy Quaid, 58, is a former cast member on SNL and the brother of fellow actor, Dennis Quaid.
TMZ reported more details on the Quaid’s arrest:
Law enforcement sources tell us they were picked up by Presidio County Sheriff’s deputies. We’re told there was a struggle and deputies had to wrestle Evi to the ground as she screamed loudly.
Felony arrest warrants had been issued for the Quaids in Santa Barbara, CA for burglary, defrauding an innkeeper and conspiracy. They’re accused of stiffing the San Ysidro Ranch near Santa Barbara out of thousands of bucks.
UPDATE: Presidio County Sheriff’s deputies tell us Randy assaulted them both physically and verbally and resisted arrest, but they will not file charges. We’re also told the Sheriff’s office is in touch with officials in Santa Barbara County, who want Randy and Evi extradited.
A rep for Quaid was not immediately available for comment.
