Randy and wife Evi Quaid were scheduled to appear in court in Santa Barbara today, but they were a no-show and now face extradition. Read more on the Quaid’s legal woes below!
Actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi didn’t show up in court Monday morning in Santa Barbara, California on felony charges for owing the San Ysidro Ranch resort $10,000.
The Quaid’s attorney, Ken Johnson of San Francisco, called the DA’s office last Friday and said the Quaids “just couldn’t make it Monday — that it was too soon.”
Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter stated: “I have begun the very lengthy process of preparing the extradition paperwork for the Quaids. It’s my hope that the Quaids will voluntarily appear next Monday at 1:30 PM. There is still a warrant out for their arrest in California. It’s my understanding that the Quaids have settled their outstanding bill with the San Ysidro Ranch. However, it’s up to our office and the judge about if the charges should be dropped or not, no one else has a say in that.”
It seems many think the Quaids no-show in court Monday morning is basically Evi’s way of showing them she’s in control.
The Quaids are being charged with burglary, defrauding an innkeeper and conspiracy in connection with the incident.
They were arrested in Marfa, Texas, on September 24, and spent a few hours behind bars before posting $20,000 bail apiece.
