It’s a boy! The royal couple – Kate Middleton and Prince William – have finally given birth to a healthy royal baby.
The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth at the St. Mary’s Hospital in London, where their child is the couple’s first.
An aide relayed the news with a proclamation signed by the doctors.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight,” it says.
The Kensington Palace shared that the little Prince of Cambridge weighed in at 8 lbs and 6 oz., arriving at 4:24 PM (London local time).
A Buckingham Palace spokesman says to E! News, “The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are delighted at the news.”
Middleton and Prince William arrived at the hospital at 6:00 AM shortly after going into labor. The latter, who was in beside Kate all the while, joined in entering the hospital through the side door from a two-car convoy from the Kensington Palace.
The baby is the first grandchild of Prince Charles, while being the third great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
