Michael Angelakos and his passion project Passion Pit made their Saturday Night Live debut on the October 12 episode, hosted by Christina Applegate. The band started off with the bouncy, melancholy “Take A Walk” from the well-received Gossamer (though maybe you recognize the song from that Taco Bell commercial…hey, times are tough out there). Leading up to the show, we were nervous that SNL‘s notoriously bad acoustics would turn Passion Pit’s layered music — which alternates between intricacy and rich walls of synths — into a muddled mess. That wasn’t the case, but Angelakos’ voice sounded thin, as it tends to live for their less overpowering songs.
