Dem Babies’ Daddy and America’s Got Talent host Nick Cannon is releasing a sorta-comedy rap album called White People Party Music, and while that sounds like a truly needless proposition, new song “Pajama Pants” has us rethinking everything. Cannon got Future, Migos and his Wild ‘N Out pal Traphik to guest on the track, and the key to any song like this, as The Lonely Island will tell you, is execution. If the production doesn’t sound authentic, if the vocalists don’t sell it, it won’t work.
Well, this thunderous banger delivers on all those fronts. It could basically be a leftover track from Migos’ No Label 2, or serve as a beat of Future’s forthcoming Honest — it’s only once you realize they’re rapping about girls and grannies twerking in their sweatpants, and you hear Migos’ ”Pajamas! Pajamas!” ad lib that you realize it’s all a well-executed joke.
And yet, even then, it’s passable as the real deal. Hear it below.
