Britney Spears has assembled a murderers’ row of producers for her upcoming eighth album, including executive producer will.i.am, Hit-Boy, William Orbit and Naughty Boy. The latter UK producer — who has worked with Emeli Sande and Rihanna — recently spoke to EntertainmentWise about Brit’s new project, making it seem as though it’ll be more pop-focused than her great, EDM-leaning Femme Fatale.
“I wouldn’t do anything that dub-steppy, I wanted to keep it pop,” the “La La La” hitmaker said about his contribution(s) to the “Ooh La La” singer’s new LP. “I’m a big fan of pop music and that culture so I definitely want to keep that going but in my own kind of way and my own kind of style. I’m not trying to make any kind of record you would have heard before[...] It’s different.”
Naughty Boy added: “I’m a fan of [Orbit's] so it’s just amazing to be doing something exciting with him and he’s working on the tracks at the moment. I think the sessions are in a couple of weeks.”
Previously, Hit-Boy said Spears’ album has “a global sound,” and Will said he steered her to take an introspective approach, using several power lunches to plumb her emotional makeup. So based on the available information it’ll be: non-wubby pop that is both global and personal. Count us in!
