Fox Broadcasting will present a two-hour television special on Nadya Suleman and her children on August 19. Read more on “Octomom’s” TV special below.
Fox will show footage taken shortly after Nadya Suleman gave birth to her octuplets in January.
Fox reportedly purchased the rights to broadcast the special from Pilgrim Films and Television, who obtained the footage from RadarOnline.com.
Nadya Suleman has signed at least two television deals related to coverage of the birth and raising of the octuplets.
These reality show deals could cause more trouble for Suleman, who has been slammed for cashing in on her children.
Octomom also recently signed a second reality-television deal with a British producer, Eyeworks.
Mike Darnell, the president for alternative entertainment at Fox Broadcasting, said in an interview that Fox wanted to do the special, which he said was “a documentary in its purest form,” because Ms. Suleman was “an incredibly compelling figure.”
“People are incredibly curious about her – what she’s like and why she decided to have these kids,” Mr. Darnell said. Fox and Pilgrim had voluntarily set up “a six-figure account” for the financial benefit of the octuplets, he said.
Craig Piligian, an executive producer of the special and chief executive of Pilgrim, said the special contains no host and no narration but instead presents a sort of “inner monologue in her head.”
“This is a true documentary in way it is presented,” he said. “Viewers will be able to make their own choice about what they think at the end of it.”
Just a week ago, California appeals court stayed a lower court ruling appointing an independent guardian to oversee the estate of the octuplets.
