“Did it hurt when you fell?” Miguel sings in Carlos Santana‘s slow-burning “Indy,” before he sighs and answers the question himself (“Probably not, I can tell”). He may be singing a popular pick-up line among declarations of sweet, unholy metaphors involving the Himalayas, holy temples and personal salvation. But, thanks to his and Santana’s equally blissful performances, “Indy” makes even pick-up lines sound inspired.
“Indy,” produced and written by Miguel, appears in Santana’s next album Corazon (out May 6), along with features by Gloria Estefan, Wayne Shorter, Ziggy Marley and Pitbull. Meanwhile, while recording for the Girls OST and Elton John‘s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road reissue, Miguel has teamed with the likes of Jessie Ware and J. Cole for his follow-up to 2012 breakthrough Kaleidoscope Dream.
