Michelle Duggar, the star of the TLC reality show “18 Kids and Counting” has given birth to her 19th child, a daughter named Josie, in an emergency C-section. Read more on Michelle Duggar’s premature baby girl below.
Baby Josie Brooklyn Duggar arrived three months prematurely and weighs only 1 pound, 6 ounces.The Duggar’s 19th child was actually due March 18, according to the Duggar Family Web site.
Michelle Duggar, 42, was hospitalized last weekend for gallstones, and had to have an emergency c-section to deliver on Thursday.
“Michelle is resting comfortably, and baby is stable and in the NICU for extended care,” read a statement on TLC’s Web site. “The most important thing right now is for Mom and baby Josie to get as much rest as possible. The family is grateful for all the prayers and well wishes during their recovery.”
Baby Josie is said to be in stable condition at the neonatal intensive care unit at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, TLC reports.
Josie Brooklyn was born at 25 weeks and, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in June, babies born at 25 weeks who receive aggressive treatment through intensive care have an 82 percent chance of survival.
This is the Duggars ninth daughter, and they also became grandparents in October when their son Josh welcomed a baby girl Mackynzie.
