The Dallas Christian pop band MercyMe performed Fort Wayne, Indiana and was headed to their next venue when their bus collided with a car. The Mercy Me bus crash has claimed three lives. Read more and see video news coverage of the crash below.
The crash occured around 1 am early Saturday. Two people were dead at the scene and another died at the hospital.
Kara Klinker, 18, was 35 weeks pregnant was the driver of a car traveling southbound when she made a left turn in front of the bus. The bus had a green light and was traveling through an intersection when the vehicle struck them. A man and woman in the car were dead at the scene. Klinger is in ICU in critical condition and her unborn baby was stillborn at the hospital.
The members of Mercy Me posted messages on Twitter to their fans. Bart Millard wrote: “Car just hit our tour bus. We are ok, but 2 of the 3 in the car did not make it. The one that did is pregnant. Please start praying.” That message was followed by another, “Can’t sleep. Officers left to notify families of their loss. My heart aches. Girl driving was 35 wks pregnant.”
