Meg Keflezighi, 34, became a United States citizen in 1998 and won a silver medal in the Olympics in 2004.
Keflezighi was the second place winner in 2004 and third place winner in 2005 in the New York City Marathon. Keflezighi wore “USA” on his chest today and won in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 15 seconds.
Robert Cheruiyot of Kenya came in second and Morocco’s Jaouad Gharib came in third. Ryan Hall won fourth.
The women’s winner was Derartu Tulu of Ethiopia and runner up was Russian Ludmila Petrova for the second year.
