Anna Kashfi, the ex-wife of legendary actor Marlon Brando, is suing the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center for the death of her son in 2008. Read more on Christian Brando’s death and the lawsuit filed below.
Anna Kashfi has sued the hospital for wrongful death for her son in 2008 of pneumonia. Christian Brando died of pneumonia at the age of 49. Kashfi also says the officials released her son’s body to his girlfriend and two half-siblings who cremated him without her permission.
“Plaintiff was traumatized by not knowing who took her son’s body, not knowing where her son’s body was taken, … not knowing if her son’s body had already been cremated against her wishes and beliefs,” according to the lawsuit filed in Superior Court.
Christian Brando was admitted to the hospital on Jan. 11, 2008 with a respiratory infection. He died Jan. 26, 2008.
While in the hospital, Christian Brando’s attorney gave the staff a list of people that could visit, which didn’t include his mother. Kashfi finally was able to visit her son, but was unable to talk with the hospital staff about her son’s care even though she was his closest relative.
Kashfi says she learned of her son’s death from Brando’s ex-wife, Debra Presley Brando. She tried to make arrangements with the medical center for her son’s body but discovered it had been taken and cremated.
Kashi is suing CHA Health System, which runs the hospital, and two of Marlon Brando’s children by other women, Teihotu Brando and Rebecca Brando.
Anna Kashfi is seeking unspecified damages for emotional distress.
