Poor Sabrina Washington. Until now, the former lead vocalist for UK girl group Mis-Teeq has had to sit back and watch her onetime bandmate Alesha Dixon rack up a string of solo hits—and a 2010 Brit Award nomination—in their home country, while Sabrina herself has been stuck doing gigs like I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! (American listeners will know Mis-Teeq best from minor hit “Scandalous,” which appeared on the Catwoman soundtrack a year before the trio split up.)
But the 31-year-old singer is finally recording her own solo album, and the Sugababes-esque first single “OMG” is due out in March. Is the tune worthy of its title? Find out below!
Actually, speaking of Sugababes, “OMG” is at least more memorable than their latest offering, “Wear My Kiss”–which isn’t saying too much.
Hopefully Sabrina’s got a few electro-pop ditties up her sleeve with a tad more of that old, uh, mystique—especially if she wants to compete with her former girl group chum. Because Internet slang contractions alone do not a hit make.
