Lea Michele‘s debut single “Cannonball” was warmly received by critics and is already sitting pretty in the iTunes top 20. To my ears, however, it was a little stuffy and hard to distinguish for other Sia-by-numbers power ballads. No worries! Dave Aude solves both problems by giving the track a welcome dance overhaul.
There’s a long tradition of turning ballads into club candy going all the way back to Toni Braxton‘s “Unbreak My Heart”. Dave Aude does a skillful job of ramping up the BPM without murdering the song’s sentiment, while Lea’s vocal soars prettily over the his fast and furious synths. Listen after the jump.
