When Justin Bieber took the stage at the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday night (January 5) he couldn’t help but take off his shirt. Was it the excitement of performing on the first stop of the 2013 leg of his Believe tour or did the Biebs simply want to give fans an eyeful of his brand new, junior hockey league-inspired back tattoo? There are speculations flying that the pop star may have had an ulterior motive in his shirtless shenanigans, namely: to distract Beliebers and non-Beliebers from talking about those other pictures floating around. (You know, the shots of Justin allegedly smoking marijuana.)

The Canadian crooner hasn’t had the best start to his 2013. So far the new year has brought Justin a breakup, the death of a paparazzo and, as we mentioned, a weed scandal. We say, if the kid needs to blow off some steam by stripping off his shirt mid-show, let him go for it.
