Judge Postpones Lauryn Hill’s House Arrest So That She Can Go On Tour

Lauryn Hill levied some incensed criticisms of consumerism and the music industry during her tax battle with the federal government, but the reality is she literally can’t afford to extricate herself from the system — and that’s why she’s about to go on tour. Hill was released from prison for tax evasion on Friday (October 4), and while she still has to serve three months of house arrest and nine months of supervised release, TMZ reports that a judge has postponed her home detention so she can go on tour. She’s looking to perform from November 15 to December 31, and every aspect of each tour stop must be approved by her probation officer.

Just ahead of her imprisonment, Hill signed a deal with Sony and released new track “Neurotic Society.” Upon her release, she dropped the similarly frenetic “Consumerism,” so Hill certainly seems to have an arsenal of new material to highlight on tour.
