Johnny Hallyday, 66, suffered complications after his surgery for a slipped disc in Paris, and has been placed in a medically induced coma prior to his surgery at an Los Angeles hospital.
Hallyday is expected to make a full recovery at the hospital in Los Angeles.
French police have been investigating an alleged attack on the French surgeon who first operated on the star in November for a herniated disc, which was a botched surgery that apparently caused his problems.
Hallyday’s spokesman had stated that lesions and infection from that first surgery is why Hallyday needed this surgery.
“Dr Delajoux was attacked extremely violently in the sight of his children,” lawyer David Koubbi said, quoted by the French AFP news agency.
“He is suffering from a chest injury. He was punched one or more times and kicked as he lay on the ground.”
Johnny Hallyday should be out of the medically induced coma this next week.
