First up, we couldn’t resist that horrible headline. Now on to the news: Jay-Z has signed the Ting Tings to his Roc Nation label, and as a welcome gift, he wants to collaborate with the U.K. duo on their next album.
Reports the Daily Star:
“Jay is hoping to lend his production skills to some of the new material. The Staccato rhythmic style of The Ting Tings sits well with what he does best, so that was the attraction. Jay can make them one of the biggest British bands in America.”
Jay-Z definitely has an ear for British pop tunes—he also signed British trio Sugababes to his label, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a cameo on their upcoming album, Sweet 7. (Maybe he shoulda taken over Keisha’s vocals?) You can pretty much add Jay-Z’s rapping to anything—Fall Out Boy, Coldplay, Linkin Park, The Beatles, or even Radiohead—and it comes out amazing.
Maybe MGMT should reconsider collaborating with Hova, hmm?
