Former Dallas Cowboys star Jay Novacek’s wife was found dead this morning. Read more on LeAnne Novacek’s death, believed to be suicide, below.
LeAnne Novacek, 45, was found dead at 9:05 a.m. at her mother’s home in Burleson, Texas.
Burleson police and fire departments responded to “a report of a medical emergency, possible suicide”. LeAnne’s body was discovered in a bedroom of the home.
Burleson police Commander Doug Sandifer said that Jay Novecek’s wife apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police said they are awaiting the medical examiner’s ruling on a cause and manner of death.
“It appeared no foul play, so we’re waiting for the medical examiner’s findings,” Sandifer said.
Jay Novacek, a five-time Pro Bowler, played for the Cowboys from 1990 to 1995. Novacek was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
