One of our members pointed out that the Jackson family should cough up the costs of the memorial as the city of LA is practically broke.  Most would agree that the costs shouldn’t be completely put on the city.  Well there is a website that allows people to donate towards the costs and only $17,000 of the $1.4 million has been donated so far.  This is not because fans are tightfisted, it is in fact the failure of the website to be able to handle such a large amount of visitors in one go.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa says, “The city’s Information Technology Agency could not handle the high volume of traffic or adequately respond to receive contributions for several hours Tuesday afternoon … for at least 12 consecutive hours Tuesday evening … and periodically throughout Wednesday morning.”

So Villaraigosa is begging MJ fans to go back to the website and donate.
