Could shock jock Howard Stern be Simon Cowell’s replacement on American Idol? Now wouldn’t that make the show much more interesting to watch?
Simon Cowell has been the head honcho on the American Idol judge’s panel since 2002, but announced last month he will be leaving the show when his contract ends in May.
Cowell’s decision to leave the show has prompted speculation as to who will take his place on the show, with several interesting replacements rumored to be considered. Sources have reported Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry, Jamie Foxx, and Ryan Seacrest are being considered. But wouldn’t Howard Stern be a great judge for the show?
A source told New York Post gossip column Page Six, “(American Idol) is one of the few shows that could compete with Stern’s $100 million-a-year Sirius contract, and Idol bosses think he’d be even nastier than Simon.”
Stern has said he’ll be looking for work after his contract with Sirius Radio ends next January, and hints that he has been offered a position on television.
Stern revealed, “Recently I was approached by a major TV network to take over a TV show and leave here and do that next year – and I did turn it down. Well, I didn’t turn it down. I started to entertain it and think about it, and then I probably think my demands are pretty heavy and they were attempting to negotiate and I said ‘you don’t have to’.”
Do you guys think Stern would make a good choice as Cowell’s replacement?
