Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson died on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 68. Read more on Jim Johnson’s death below.
Jim Johnson, 68, had been on leave from the team while undergoing cancer treatments.
Johnson was known as one of the top NFL defensive minds. Jim worked 22 years as an assistant coach and joined the Philadelphia Eagles’ Andy Reid in January 1999.
Johnson’s health deteriorated in recent months and he had to coach from a motorized cart. The Eagles announced in the offseason that Jim was taking a leave of absence and named secondary coach Sean McDermott their interim defensive coordinator.
According to the Philadelphia Eagles, Johnson is survived by his wife Vicky, two children and four grandchildren.
Our condolences to Jim Johnson’s family, friends, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
