A year after being rejected on national television by Bachelor Jason Mesnick, Melissa Rycroft marries her longtime boyfriend, Tye Strickland. Read more on Melissa Rycroft’s wedding below.
Melissa Rycroft and her fiance, a Dallas insurance agent named Tye Strickland, married on Saturday in Mexico.
The couple married in an intimate sunset ceremony attended by friends and family on Isla Mujeres, a small island near Cancun.
Melissa Rycroft, a former cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys, and Strickland kissed while an instrumental version of the Monday Night Football song played.
Rycroft wore a strapless corset-style Alfred Angelo gown and went barefoot as her father walked her down the aisle. Her four bridesmaids wore salmon-colored dresses and carried bouquets of orange roses.
The couple have been engaged since June, rekindling their romance after Melissa was kicked off the Bachelor by Jason Mesnick in front of the world. But Melissa Rycroft calls being dumped by Mesnick “one of the best things that has happened to me in my life.”
Jason Mesnick is now engaged to Molly Malaney.
“We’ve been really good friends, but the timing was never right,” Rycroft said of Strickland. “With all this going on, he’s my support system. It’s funny how things happen.”
The couple will reside in Dallas and say kids are in their future.
“I definitely want to have kids, but not any time soon,” Rycroft says. “We want to put ourselves first for as long as we can. I want it to be us for as long as possible before we have some little twerp running around.”
Adds Strickland, “If we procreate, we are going to have a little terror!”
