Randy Quaid’s wife Evi has filed a formal complaint against the Texas police officer who arrested them on Thursday, accusing the officer of conspiring to set them up. Read more on this story below.
Actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi each posted $20,000 bail on Thursday night, after being arrested in Marfa, Texas over an unpaid $10,000 hotel bill.
A judge issued a warrant for the couple’s arrest earlier on Thursday after the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California, claimed the Quaids left without paying their bill.
Evi Quaid went to the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office on Friday morning and reportedly verbally abused the arresting officer, Deputy James Davis, in what he has described as a “psychotic episode”.
In a handwritten police statement, Evi Quaid alleges Davis is in cohorts with two men, which includes the couple’s former business manager Mickey Segal, to extort cash from the Quaids.
Evi claims the extortion is related to a death threat the couple received last year after Randy was kicked out of the Actors’ Equity Association. He was ousted after he was accused by the cast of his Broadway show Lone Star Love of physically and verbally abusing them.
In her police statement, Evi writes, “I believe James Davis fraudulently organised an arrest of my husband and myself to receive money from Bob Boyett… (from) The Stagehands Union and our former business manager Mickey Segal, who are attempting to acquire our assets illegally by creating false evidence.”
But what would this have to do with the Quaid’s unpaid hotel bill? And if they cannot pay a $10,000 hotel bill, then why would all these people be after their money?
