Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM is believed to have committed suicide. DJ AM swallowed eight OxyContin pain killers and one was found in his mouth. Read more on DJ AM below.
Law enforcement sources said Adam Goldstein took one last OxyContin pill as he was losing consciousness. DJ AM’s body was discovered in his SoHo apartment last Friday.
“He wanted to die,” the source said. “He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn’t even swallow it.”
Goldstein’s autopsy showed there were eight undigested OxyContin pills in his stomach, and the DJ was found lying on top of a bag of crack cocaine.
In the living room of his apartment, police discovered a Valentine’s Day card from his former sweetheart, model Haley Wood, that read “Thank God you’re in my life. I love you.”
A mirror was also propped outside the front door of the apartment and another was leaning against the door of the bedroom where DJ AM was found, the source said.
The law enforcement source also added that DJ AM, 36, “smoked a lot of crack, barricaded the doors and killed himself.”
Goldstein’s BlackBerry was filled with messages from worried friends. One read, “Some [expletive] just said you’re dead. Better text me back.”
DJ AM’s ex girlfriend, Hayley Wood, has denied speculation that their breakup caused Adam Goldstein to commit suicide.
“Any indication that this horribly tragic accident happened because of a rumored breakup is not only untrue but disgusting,” Wood said in a statement to Us Weekly. “We were very much together at the time of his passing, and I love him very much.”
