Country music icon Carl Smith has passed away at his home in Tennessee at the age of 82. Read more on Carl Smith’s life and death below.

The Country Music Hall of Fame member died on Saturday at his home in Tennessee. He was 82 years-old.

Carl Smith was a popular country singer in the 1950’s and was married to the late June Carter.

June Carter (Cash) and Carl had a daughter, Carlene Carter, before their split in 1957.  Of course June went on to marry Johnny Cash and Smith later married Goldie Hill, who died in 2005.

Smith was married to June Carter Cash for a few years and later was remarried to Goldie Hill. Hill passed away five years ago and the two were married 48 years.

Carl Smith is survived by his three children, Carlene Carter, Dean Smith, Carl Smith Jr. and Lori Lynn Smith along with 12 grand children and 12 great-grand children.

Smith’s funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Both services are open to the public.
