Arnold Stang is known for playing nerdy characters and his distinctive nasal voice and owlish face set him apart in movies, radio, commercials, and cartoons.
Stang stood 5 foot 3 and weighed 100 pounds, and described himself as, “I look like a frightened chipmunk who’s been out in the rain too long.”
In one of his dramatic roles, he played Frank Sinatra’s pal in the heroin addiction drama The Man WithThe Golden Gun.
Stang began his career as a teen in New York on The Horn and Hardart’s Children’s Hour and Let’s Pretend.
Some of Stang’s other movies included, It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World and as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s mortal pal in Hercules in New York.
But most of us remember Stang as the animated star of Top Cat, who was the leader of a bunch of urban cats.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, JoAnne Stang, and a son David and daughter Deborah.
