There’s still a big market for breakup albums, as evidenced by Coldplay marching straight into the top position on the Billboard 200 with Ghost Stories. The nine-track LP, the UK band’s sixth overall, is their fifth to make the Top 10 and the fourth consecutive one to top the main album chart, following X&Y (2005), Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends (2008) and Mylo Xyloto (2011). Chris Martin & Co.’s opening weeks have showed slowly dwindling returns, however, as Ghost Stories goes in with 383,000 copies sold. While still the biggest debut of 2014 so far, that’s 64,000 less than Mylo Xyloto‘s first week and 328,000 less than that of Viva La Vida.

Elsewhere on the Billboard 200, country crooner Brantley Gilbert fills the runner-up slot with his third album Just As I Am (211,000 copies), while former American Idol winner Phillip Phillips goes in at #7 with sophomore album Behind The Light (41,000) and the Fault In Our Stars soundtrack, which contains tracks like Ed Sheeran‘s “All Of The Stars” and Charli XCX‘s “Boom Clap,” pops up at #8 (34,000).
